The fire within us

Since time immemorial people have warmed themselves by the fire, prepared their food with fire and thus kept the cold away.

The ritual of walking over glowing coals, which is still regarded as a cleansing ritual in many cultures, not only has the function of an inner cleansing, but also offers the opportunity to encounter primal fears of the superiority of fire.

In Christian mythology there is purgatory, which burns and cleanses the so-called "sins".

In western civilization, fire has been pushed back from daily life and replaced by today's microwave oven.

Just as fire has been banished from our daily lives, so fever is banished from the body.
